Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston Morning Show Series Gets 2-Season Order at Apple

Music and tech giant Apple have been looking to bring scripted television series to their platform for a long time now. Currently producing original reality programs like Carpool Karaoke: The Series, Apple just made a huge leap into the big league streaming wars with a two-season, straight-to-series order for a Morning News drama starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston.

The currently untitled show is described as an inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the women (and men) who carry out this daily televised ritual.

This will mark the first ongoing series role for Reese Witherspoon, who is coming off of the Emmy's juggernaut Big Little Lies (which is in development on a second installment). This will also be the highly anticipated television return of Jennifer Aniston, who has stuck strictly to movies since the end of the juggernaut that was Friends. Witherspoon and Aniston will also executive produce the new series, alongside showrunner Jay Carson (House of Cards).

In addition, Apple has also confirmed their straight-to-series order for an Amazing Stories reboot. Originally broadcast on NBC in the 80s, the new version of this anthology series “will transport the audience to worlds of wonder through the lens of today’s most imaginative filmmakers, directors and writers." Amazing Stories will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Bryan Fuller.
