'Star Wars' - Rian Johnson To Write & Direct New Original Trilogy

We're just a little over a month away from the next Star Wars and the hype is real. It would appear that The Last Jedi is in very good hands, as Disney and Lucasfilm have just announced that the man behind the film, Rian Johnson, has just signed on to write and direct a new trilogy of Star Wars films featuring a new story and wholly original characters.

Lucasfilm hasn't had the best previous track record with directors, firing Josh Trank from his Boba Fett movie, brining in a new director for Rogue One reshoots, parting ways with Derek Connelly on Episode 9, and even firing Phil Lord and Chris Miller from the Han Solo movie halfway through that film's production. The fact that Lucasfilm trust Johnson enough to give him his own original trilogy is huge news, and makes my excitement for The Last Jedi even more intense.

This will also mark the first time that a Star Wars film will branch out from it's already established lore, meaning the possibilities are as endless as the galaxy they're set in.

So, what do you hope to see in these new Star Wars films? Let us know in the comments below!
