Zac Efron to Star in New 'Halloween' Movie?

The latest installment in the Halloween franchise has had fans buzzing ever since its announcement. Written by Danny McBride and David Gordon Green, and directed by Green, the film has already confirmed the return of franchise veteran Jamie Lee Curtis, as well as newcomer Judy Greer. Now it looks like they've found their A-list leading man in the form of Zac Efron.

The news comes straight from Efron himself, who tweeted a photo of himself with Curtis.

The official Halloween synopsis released by Universal says:
Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
Master of horror John Carpenter will executive produce and serve as creative consultant on this film, joining forces with cinema’s current leading producer of horror, Jason Blum (Get Out, Split, The Purge, Paranormal Activity). Inspired by Carpenter’s classic, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride crafted a story that carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film, and Green also directs.

The new Halloween film is scheduled to be released October 19, 2018.
